About the Event

We are excited to bring back one of the original leaders of the group, Barbara Brannon who is now running the Texas Spur and Lone Star Literary Magazine covering books in Texas.

Successful publishing is a numbers game, where you need to make decisions about calculating printing and production costs, understand reseller discounts, figuring out royalty arrangements. In this talk, author and publisher Barbara Brannon will show how a little bit of math can help you succeed in the publishing business. For good measure, we'll touch on numbers like ISBN, eISBN, EAN, SAN, BISAC, and what authors need to know, whether traditionally published or self-published.

Barbara Brannon of Spur, Texas, has edited everything from fiction and nonfiction books to magazines, newsletters, ad copy, and now The Texas Spur weekly newspaper and Authentic Texas Magazine.

She is co-author, with Kay Ellington, of The Paragraph Ranch series of West Texas novels, and author of The Wolf Hunt: A Tale of the Texas Badlands, forthcoming from Five Star/GALE Cengage in fall 2020.
