About the Event

About Wayne Hughes:

Wayne graduated from White Deer High School in 1961 and WTAMU in 1967 with a journalism and radio-tv production degree. He is an Army veteran, commanding a combat motion picture team in Vietnam in 1968-69.

He was a television reporter and chief photographer for Amarillo’s KGNC TV. He also was a freelance reporter for Amarillo Globe News and the Rocky Mountain News during his exile from college because of a tendency to not attend all classes or take all tests.

For a quarter-century, concluding in 2005, he was the executive vice president of the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association, the trade organization representing independent oil and gas producers and royalty owners in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles and southwestern Kansas. During that time, he was a lobbyist for the industry in Austin and Washington, D.C.

A life-long fan of talking books, books on tape, and for two decades, audiobooks, he decided to try his hand at narration. He has ten books to his credit listed on Adobe Creative Exchange, ranging from a biography of the grandson of Paul Revere to a travel guide of the Mesa Verde area. He has also narrated three of his books and will include his fourth if his editor will just stop tinkering with the manuscript.

Almost nothing in this biographical sketch is exaggerated.
